I share Col. Bacevich's views and am pleased that he is making them public. I wish when he said our warring in Pakistan would be a disaster that he would have been more explicit about the possible consequences. Specifics are helpful for informing the public and getting their attention.

Thanks. "Quagmire specialists" is an apt description for those who watch closely.

Yet, the Gallup Polls show that they are seen as the most competent institution in American Society.

I've personally known the Colonel for decades. He's not an "arm-chair quarterback", he's a "retired quarterback". The further he gets from actually wearing the uniform of our armed forces, the better his view seems to become.
